{"id":3824,"date":"2023-04-02T12:36:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-02T18:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:10043\/?p=3824"},"modified":"2025-03-07T07:17:18","modified_gmt":"2025-03-07T13:17:18","slug":"businesses-can-take-lessons-from-final-four-teams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.atiba.com\/businesses-can-take-lessons-from-final-four-teams\/","title":{"rendered":"Businesses can take lessons from Final Four teams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This article originally appeared in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonsun.com\/story\/money\/tech\/2023\/04\/02\/businesses-can-take-lessons-from-final-four-teams\/70060200007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Tennessean<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Communicating, focusing, pivoting, keeping your head up and never giving up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">It takes a lot of skills to be successful in business, and for most of us the learning curve is steep and constant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">But this time of year, specifically March, all of us business types get a chance to learn from the best\u2014an opportunity I look forward to every year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">It\u2019s March Madness time!<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">I know. Spending hours glued to the television watching the NCAA Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s College Basketball Tournament may not sound like the ultimate way to improve your business skills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">But if you\u2019re tired of reading the latest self-help and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atiba.com\/custom-built-software\/\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1949\">business<\/a> books, burned out on podcasts and webinars, or even bored reading business columns in the paper\u2014a dose of March Madness is just what you need.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\" aria-label=\"advertisement\">\n<div id=\"ad-slot-7103-tn-jackson-C1151-native-article_link-tech-2\" class=\"gnt_x_sl gnt_x_al\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-method=\"lazyLoadX\" data-google-query-id=\"CMCoroDcsf4CFT_e4wcdqKYOYA\">\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The NCAA college basketball tournament is unique in sports because just like business, it\u2019s totally unpredictable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Unexpected upsets, smaller teams defeating bigger teams, lucky and unlucky bounces\u2014come March, you never know what\u2019s going to happen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In basketball as in business, success usually comes down to doing whatever you can to put the odds in your favor. This is easier said than done and even then, winning is not a guarantee.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\" aria-label=\"advertisement\">\n<div id=\"ad-slot-7103-tn-jackson-C1151-native-article_link-tech-3\" class=\"gnt_x_sl gnt_x_al\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-method=\"lazyLoadX\" data-google-query-id=\"CMGoroDcsf4CFT_e4wcdqKYOYA\">\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">But the best coaches and the best business leaders stay focused game after game, determining what levers they can pull to give their teams and companies the best chance of success.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">I look forward to my annual March Madness obsession to remind me of the things I need to do to help our company be the best it can be. And this year\u2019s tournament, just like in years past, hasn\u2019t disappointed.<\/p>\n<aside id=\"gnt_atomsnc\" class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_anc\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-method=\"loadAnc\" aria-label=\"Newsletter signup form\">\n<div class=\"label\" hidden=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"message\">\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Here are just a few of the business lessons I have been reminded of these past few weeks:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul\">\n<li class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul_li\"><strong>Team chemistry can be more important than raw talent<\/strong>. With underdogs like Florida Atlantic University and San Diego State making it all the way to the Final Four\u2014whether in basketball or business, teams that love playing together can outmatch teams with superior size and talent.<\/li>\n<li class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul_li\"><strong>Staying calm under pressure is a skill that can be the difference between winning and losing<\/strong>.\u00a0 With many games this year coming down to last second shots and pressure free throws, just like in business, it&#8217;s important to have players that don\u2019t get rattled in stressful situations.<\/li>\n<li class=\"gnt_ar_b_ul_li\"><strong>When there\u2019s conflict, it\u2019s better to take the high road<\/strong>.
